Travel Outside Europe
Destinations That Changed How I Travel
While Europe is my home base today, I spent nearly a decade living and traveling outside it. I spent many years in the United States — not just passing through, but truly learning the country from the inside. Later, I traveled and lived for months at a time in Southeast Asia and the UAE, not for quick getaways, but to experience what life feels like in different parts of the world.
Every trip to a new country outside Europe has been intentional — whether it was spending winters in the Middle East, long stays in Vietnam or Bali with my husband, or using extended layovers to explore entirely new cities on the way.
This page brings together those travel experiences that shaped my perspective in ways only time and immersion can.
Africa
Africa is that continent that I started to explore just recently. But most of my travel content on this blog across African continent has been focused on Morocco — but I’ve also covered a few useful tips for visiting Kenya and going on safari. More plces re on the way!

More from Africa
united States
I lived in the U.S. for almost 10 years (in 5 different states in the East, West, and Southeast), exploring coast to coast — from national parks in California to beautiful small towns Kentucky. These posts reflect those years of my travel and everything I discovered along the way.
Middle East
My travels through the Middle East brought me from the deserts of the UAE to the souqs of Doha and further west toward the Uyghur world — always chasing contrast and connection.
I spent a winter living in Ajman and Dubai, returning more than once to explore beyond the surface. My posts about the Middle East come from time spent in the region — between glass towers and desert roads, Friday prayers and late-night shawarma, where modern life and deep-rooted culture live side by side.
Southeast Asia
My time in Southeast Asia spans long stays in Bali, winters in Vietnam, and slow weeks wandering through Thailand and Cambodia — not just visiting, but living and observing.
From motorbike rides through rice fields to street food breakfasts and quiet temples, this region offered me space to reset and reconnect. These posts come from those months: personal routes, honest impressions, and moments that stayed with me long after I left.
