I made this list of the best luxury hotels in Gran Canaria for myself before traveling to the island on a 2-week long holiday from Tenerife. Mark and I wanted not just to road trip (although we went on a few awesome road trips in Gran Canaria too), but to fully immerse ourselves in the lap of luxury at least for a few days. So we did.
Originally this list was longer with more hotels (around the entire island) but after doing more thorough research and visiting some hotels personally, I removed a few of them from my wishlist leaving only those that are really the best (in my opinion).
To come up with a final version of the article about the best hotels in Gran Canaria, I based my decision on a few factors such as other guests’ reviews and ratings, professional awards that hotels received from various travel industry organizations, quality of accommodations, and finally value or money.
And this helped me narrow down my list with the best Gran Canaria hotels only to those options that include best hotels for couples and best hotels for families. Most of these hotels are 5 star all-inclusive properties or 5 star hotels with half and full board. And there are a couple of nice 4-star resorts on or near the beach.

Not the standard luxury hotel that you may expect. It is a luxurious country house in a very rural setting of Gran Canaria hidden between the mountains not far from the Camel Safari Park.
Even though the location is a bit away from all the touristy sites, it is less than half an hour’s drive to the heart of Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles. But staying here lets you immerse in the farm life of Gran Canaria by unplugging from the world.

The property is small which feels very cozy and reminds of a home away from home. There are only 7 rooms that can host only 16 adults furnished in Canarian country style. There is also a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge for guests to share and a salt-water private pool outside on the terrace with the mountains in the background.
As a guest, you’ll also have access to a garden adjacent to the property where you can pick up any fresh fruits such as oranges, lemons, bananas, avocados, and mangoes at any time.

And this property is somewhat different from any other Gran Canaria hotel on my list. The reason for that is first of all the story behind the walls of this hotel and second the type of visit it offers.
Santa Catalina, a Royal Hideaway is a historic prestigious hotel with a storied history, dating back to its opening in the late 19th century. It is situated in one of the oldest neighborhoods of Las Palmas which is why over the years, it has hosted numerous dignitaries, celebrities, and notable figures, contributing to its prestigious reputation.
This hotel will suit better those who come to Las Palmas for a few days to explore the city and possibly go further on a drive to Guia to explore the northern part of Gran Canaria. During the stay, you’ll have easy access to Las Palmas Old Town and be able to relax in luxury if not feeling like leaving the hotel.
The architecture of Santa Catalina, a Royal Hideaway evokes a bygone era, an elegant symphony of classic design and contemporary comfort. Its corridors will whisper tales of yesteryears, and its interior will create an ambiance that will cradle you in luxury.
The accommodations are no less than exquisite, with a selection of rooms and suites that have opulent furnishings and modern amenities. And on the roof top there is a nice pool and bar area where it is possible to relax with a glass of champagne overlooking Las Palmas from above.

Marina Suites Gran Canaria
- Best to Choose if: wishing to stay in a budget-friendly luxury hotel in the Puerto Rico area
Here is another beautiful hotel in Gran Canaria located in Puerto Rico by the waterfront. In fact, it is situated almost in the same location where the Grand Horizon hotel is with the only difference being that Grand Horizon is higher on the hills and Marina Suites is right by the water.
That in turn can be more convenient for some people who prefer to have shops and restaurants within walking distance without going up and down the hill.
Marina Suites is a 4-star hotel but its range of spacious and well-appointed rooms is more reminiscent of a 5-star luxury hotel.
It also boasts a variety of amenities, including a swimming pool for all ages, a sunset terrace, and a poolside bar. Guests can also take advantage of the adults-only relaxation area with jacuzzies and Bali beds as well as two on-site restaurants, spa, and fitness facilities.
Marina Suites is one of the best hotels in Gran Canaria Puerto Rico and the price for the quality is very reasonable.

H10 Playa Meloneras Palace
- Best to Choose if: looking to find the cheapest 5-star luxury hotel in Gran Canaria
If you are looking to stay in a luxurious hotel in Gran Canaria but your budget is relatively low, this might be a good hotel to look at. Outside the August and Christmas seasons, they often have different deals where an all-inclusive stay costs less than a room with breakfast in many hotels of this type in the area.

I stayed in the H10 hotel and would happily recommend it to anyone. Although one thing to know – compared to stays in other luxurious 5-star hotels on this list (particularly those in the first section about the best upscale hotels in Gran Canaria), this one has a more minimalistic approach to many things.
The H10 Playa Meloneras Palace has a more understated design aesthetic, a more narrow variety of gourmet dining options (they are more focused on essential dining experiences and have the cheapest food and alcohol items), and a limited range of services.
But I still loved them. Because the price-quality ratio is just right and you really get a nice all-inclusive stay at a lower price. There are 4 pools in total but you’ll enjoy the most the infinity pool with ocean views.
Rooms are rather simple and have a Mediterranean beach style but most of them offer a peaceful atmosphere and views of the sea, pool, or garden.

Other Beautiful Hotels in Gran Canaria
Lopesan Costa Meloneras
- Best to Choose if: you’d like to stay in a gorgeous hotel with the largest pool in the entire Canary Islands archipelago
If you are looking for a hotel with the largest pool area in Gran Canaria and a luxurious feel at the same time, Lopesan Costa Meloneras Hotel will offer you just that.
It is part of the Lopesan Hotel Group (as another Lopesan hotel mentioned above) and is recognized for its upscale amenities, numerous swimming pools, and beautiful surroundings.
The main things here are the interior and many pools with one pool being so huge like a lake.
You can spend only a few days (if not more) exploring the huge territory and enjoying all the amenities that are included in the room stay like a water sports center, the hotel’s own beach, spa sanctuary with an extensive selection of unique treatments, a nearby casino, equestrian club, and picturesque inner courtyards, providing serene spaces for relaxation.
Almost every night there are also different events available for guests and live music.
The architectural style of this luxurious hotel is something that also deserves separate attention. It is a captivating blend of colonial style adorned with neoclassical elements. Within each room, lofty ceilings and expansive windows offer panoramic views.
The only disadvantage – Lopesan Costa Meloneras is really huge with too many guests (especially in July and August and during winter breaks). In busy times it feels just too overcrowded. This is why not everyone will feel 100% comfortable there. It is a nice 5-star hotel in Gran Canaria where to have an active holiday but not really relax in a peaceful environment.

Radisson Blu Resort & Spa
- Best to Choose if: looking for the best hotel in Puerto de Mogan
The Radisson Blu Resort & Spa is another luxury hotel in Gran Canaria that offers an upscale experience. You’ll find it in the coastal town of Puerto de Mogán with easy access to the lively marina area where you can explore local shops and restaurants, and join a couple of boat tours.
Like most hotels of the Radisson Blu chain, Radisson Blu Resort & Spa has contemporary and stylish design elements with sleek furnishings and a focus on minimalism and straight, uncluttered geometric forms. The hotel’s interior design shows a sense of order, elegance, and modernity.
There is a range of amenities and services included in the stay like a wellness center and spa, three swimming pools with sun loungers and a jacuzzi, tennis courts, gym, and a garden area where to soak up the sun. By the way, there are also rooms with personal jacuzzies as well.
However, while the location of the hotel is very nice, do not expect to do a lot in the town of Puerto de Mogan.
This hotel will suit better those who either come to fully relax and spend time in a nice luxurious hotel without leaving its grounds much or for those who’ll have a car and won’t mind driving away. As most points of interest are located down the coastline.
Hotel Paradisus Gran Canaria

Here is another luxury hotel resort in Gran Canaria situated on the southern coast in front of San Agustin Beach and close to the shopping center and golf courses.

You can wake up at dawn and go to sand dunes to see the sunrise and be for the most part alone since tourists arrive here way later in the morning.
The beach is also in very close proximity which is very convenient for guests who prefer to go for a swim at the beach, not the pool. Although Riu Palace has a nice outdoor pool, providing an opportunity for unwinding and cooling off.
This hotel is big with rooms and grounds designed with modern aesthetics and comfort in mind. Clean lines, contemporary furnishings, and tasteful decor create a welcoming and sophisticated ambiance.
Some rooms have private balconies overlooking the dunes, providing a space where to relax, enjoy fresh air, and of course, have a beautiful background for photos.

Bohemia Suites & Spa
